Our Position As Believers In Christ

As believers in Christ we have an awesome responsibility to live in such a way that our light shines in the midst of a wicked and corrupt generation. The Lord is not willing for any person to perish but that all men and women would repent of their sins and make Jesus the Savior and Lord of their lives.

Victorious Christian living does not come from will power, positive thinking, or saying a few affirmations to encourage ourselves. It comes by being fully yielded to the Holy Spirit present within us and by knowing our position in Christ as a believer. By knowing who we are in Christ affords us the wonderful opportunity to experience growth, maturity and the ability to manifest the power of God in our lives. If our present condition doesn’t line up with our stated position in Christ, then that only means that we can, and should, continue to progress and advance in the things of God.

Animal sacrifices, sin offerings and burnt offerings for sin did not please our heavenly Father, so Jesus came into the world to do the will of the Father by sacrificing his life on the cross for our sins. And by that one sacrifice he has sanctified and perfected us forever (Hebrews 10:6-10). That’s right child of God, our present position in Christ is that we are sanctified (set apart as God’s special possession) and perfected or complete, forever.

I have more wonderful news for you from the word of God. In the book of Colossians it says that God, “has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13, 14 NIV). That verse is past tense my beloved brethren, we are not the victim, but the victor; not the conquered but the conqueror and not the overcome, but the overcomer! We are and have everything the word says we do, right NOW. That is our position in Christ. We need to stop making excuses for ourselves and bowing down to the beggarly elements of this world; living moment by moment in our present emotional, psychological or physiological state.

The apostle Paul continues to elaborate on our present position in Christ when he states, “Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ; according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:3, 4 KJV). There’s more……. “But God is so rich in his mercy and he loved us so much that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4-6 NLT).

Brothers and sister, we are no longer slaves in bondage to our own sin. We are now members of God’s royal family, positioned in Christ to assist in making Christ’s enemies his footstool, and establishing God’s Kingdom upon the earth. We must rise up in this day and hour and take our rightful place; decreeing, proclaiming, teaching, preaching and manifesting God’s presence in the earth until our King comes.

In His Service,

Apostle David M Young Sr.
